Establishment of a New Police Station at Nelgunda under the Bhamragad Subdivision

Gadchiroli:-With the help of 1000 C-60 commandos, 25 BDDs teams, newly appointed police personnel, 500 special police officers, and private contractors, a new police station was constructed in just 24 hours.

• The inauguration of the new police station took place in the presence of Special Police Inspector General (Anti-Naxal Operations) Mr. Sandeep Patil, Police Deputy Inspector General (Gadchiroli Region) Mr. Ankit Goyal, Police Superintendent Mr. Neelotpal, Commandant of 113th Battalion, CRPF Mr. Jasveer Singh, Commandant of 09th Battalion Mr. Shambhu Kumar, Commandant of 37th Battalion Mr. Dao Injirkan Kindo, and the local villagers.

On June 14 of the previous year, villagers in Nelgunda had declared the village free from Maoists. The establishment of this new police station will play an essential role in the overall development of this area… said Police Superintendent Mr. Neelotpal.

Gadchiroli district, which is highly sensitive from a Maoist perspective and comprises remote and underdeveloped areas where many tribal communities are still far from development, aims to enhance their growth and curb Maoist activities. To achieve this, the Gadchiroli Police Force established a new police station at Nelgunda under the Bhamragad Subdivision on January 30, 2025. Earlier, on December 11, 2024, a police aid center was set up in the very remote Pengunda area. Nelgunda, located 20 km from Bhamragad, 14 km from Dhodraj, 4 km from Pomken Pengunda, and just 600 meters from the Chhattisgarh border, will play a pivotal role in enhancing the security and development of the local residents, bringing them closer to the mainstream of development.

A massive force was deployed to establish the police station. This included a total of 1050 personnel, 10 JCBs, 19 trailers, 4 Poclains, 45 trucks, and more, all working together to build the station within just one day. The police station has been equipped with essential facilities like Wi-Fi, 19 porta cabins, a generator shed, an RO plant for drinking water, a mobile tower, toilet facilities, a security wall for posts, a BP post, 8 sandbags, and more. Additionally, for the station’s security, 4 police officers and 49 personnel from the Gadchiroli Police Force, along with SRPF Group 10 from Solapur, 2 platoons, and 69 personnel from the 113th Battalion CRPF, as well as 6 teams of Special Operations Force (150 commandos), have been deployed.

During the inauguration, various items were distributed to the local villagers, including sarees for women, lungis, palm leaves, sprayers, lower pants, T-shirts, slippers, blankets, notebooks, pens, school bags, frocks, chocolates, biscuits, cricket bats, balls, volleyball nets, and volleyballs. The residents of this remote area expressed their gratitude to the police administration for the establishment of the new station.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Special Police Inspector General (Anti-Naxal Operations) Mr. Sandeep Patil, Police Deputy Inspector General (Gadchiroli Region) Mr. Ankit Goyal, Deputy Inspector General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Gadchiroli Mr. Ajay Kumar Sharma, Police Superintendent of Gadchiroli Mr. Neelotpal, Commandant of 113th Battalion CRPF Mr. Jasveer Singh, Commandant of 09th Battalion CRPF Mr. Shambhu Kumar, Commandant of 37th Battalion CRPF Mr. Dao Injirkan Kindo, Additional Police Superintendent (Operations) Mr. Yatish Deshmukh, Additional Police Superintendent (Aheri) Dr. Shrenik Lodha, Subdivisional Police Officer Bhamragad Mr. Amar Mohite, and the newly appointed Officer in Charge of Nelgunda Police Station, Police Inspector Amol Solunke, along with other officers and police personnel.
